Bangkok Round II…Back in the Big Mango

Emily on a pedestrian bridge above a busy Bangkok street

So nice we came here twice!

Bangkok was as big and loud as we remembered. Our Thai visas were nearly up, so we came back to fly out and stayed downtown near the malls and office buildings.

From the thirty first floor, Emily tried to sketch the skyline with debatable success. I used the sauna and swam in the pool beside Giant African Land Snails. I still do not know why tennis ball sized snails were wandering around an eleventh floor garden, but they were excellent company.

The downtown food choices were ridiculous. I chose stalls by smell. Emily chose whichever one had the longest line. I gained 97 kg. Worth it.

On Halloween, a few five year old ghouls chased Emily along the Skytrain walkway in excellent homemade costumes. She says the shrieking was for their benefit. I remain unconvinced.

We also got haircuts, manicures, pedicures, massages, toe waxings, and every other form of pampering we could think of. Emily left looking like a mean girl on a Tuesday. Emily, if you are reading this, I think it is cute.

We will be back. The snails are expecting me.
